Have You Heard? (For Rishi Sunak)
Background:
It is England
Where he has been accepted,
Had it been India,
People would not have let him to be.
Here people would have conspired,
Would have engaged in
Mean and dirty politics
For letting him not come in power
As very often do it here,
Very dirty men doing politics,
Very nasty politics.
I
Have you heard Rishi Sunak
Is the Prime Minister of England,
Have you,
Rishi Sunak
The P.M. at 11 Downing Street,
The leader of the Conservative Party,
Appointed by the King?
II
Have you
The first Asian P.M.
Of an Indian descent,
The whispers going around
Not of India, but of England,
Have you,
Have you not,
The whispers saying?
O Othello,
O Macbeth,
O Hamlet,
O Prospero, O Caliban, O Ariel,
Have you, have you not?
III
Have you
The first Asian origin P.M. of England
And nowhere else as has given a chance to serve?
IV
Now say you,
Of where is he
Of East Africa where he belonged to,
Of Punjab, India, Asia
Or Europe?
V
But whatever say you, my firend,
To me, he is but of England
Which has given a chance to serve
And none the else?
Had it been India,
Indian politicians would have blocked his way
From becoming,
Would have mud-slinging, slandering so much
For image damage!
V
But whatever say you, my friend,
To me, he is but of England
Which has given a chance to serve
And none the else?
Had it been India,
Indian politicians would have blocked his way
From becoming,
Would have mud-slinging, slandering so much
For image damage!
VI
Now we shall say
That he is,
After he has become the P.M.,
But had we been aware of it before,
Did we really praise him before,
Care to know the man?
After England and the Englishmen have chosen him
As for to represent
So the image of his
Otherwise reject I all those cringing words of praise
Of opportunists.
VII
That he is the Prime Minister
Everybody will praise it,
But those who made him,
Saw the merit in him, explored possibility
And promise in him are important
And fellows to be reckoned rather than others
As I feel it.
