Having A Baccalaureate Poem by Raymond Farrell

Having A Baccalaureate

Even when I graduated
As an undergraduate
In the year 1977
A baccalaureate degree
Did not guarantee a job
The same is true today
It is merely
An expensive stepping stone
Which many should not have taken
Given the level of debt they've accrued
And the dearth of jobs
Within certain fields
But people are free to choose
Which is all well and good
They only become annoying
When they start to pontificate
Having deluded themselves
Into equating having a baccalaureate
With actually knowing something
Of consequence.

I dropped out after 2 years. I like a quote by Robert Ingersoll. College polishes pebbles but dims diamonds. I have encountered waaaay too many degreed idiots. : -)

The more I learn the more I realize how great my ignorance is and I am not using a cliche when I say this.
