Hazel Poem by Harry St Vincent Beechey

Hazel

We laughed at your funeral

And you, silent in your white coffin,

Would have laughed too

To hear how you lived again

In die fond memories of your friends.

The anecdotes of an outrageous lady

Who lived and loved and laughed her way

Into our lives

Were the echo of a world

Now forever changed.

As the questing tongue-tip

Searches in disbelief for a missing tooth

So we find ourselves exploring the emptiness of your passing

Yes you are gone

And we smile in gratitude

For the memories that warm us

Against die icy chill of sudden Death.
