He Returned My Life In Love Poem by Steve 'easy' Whitacre

He Returned My Life In Love

Tears flooding down like the heaviest of rains,
Sobbing down my cheek. as I think of the cross,
Graphic visions of the cross lays before my eyes,
That what brings me to my knees facing ground,
Deep within my agonized and a sorrowful heart,
Overwhelming deep disgust, shame for who I am.

Hands folded, eyes trained ever upward to your heights,
Through the salty tears, kneeling, I ask of you my Lord,
How could you die for us? We of whom are so unworthy,
To show so much love, beyond understanding such love!
Yet here lay the cross, all stillness for your agony of pain,
Vast silence with the bright lights of love all around Him,

I tried to stand but couldn't, I'm trying to look up but can't,
Laying at the foot of the cross, eyes flood of raindrop tears,
With crushed heart, I would pray, simply no words coming,
Symbols of meaning filling mind, no language coming out,
Dry as sandy desert, essence of hopelessness, all darkness,
No sunlight burning, trying to speak, again cannot obtain,

Many a second passing, feel like days erect beside your cross,
Sorrow turns to love, salvation, all I feel is comfort you gifted,
I crawled out as if but dog, low to the ground, holding your gift,
My weakness turned to strength, pain gone, love filling my soul,
In the blessing of being allowed to the feet of Jesus, I'm whole,
Resting again in his loving arms I begin to truly live once more,

And live I will, but from now on I life he has meant me to live,
A life fully embracing and share my special gifts from on high,

easy...
