He/She Split Poem by Ima Ryma

He/She Split

In the beginning was one cell
Of life, and then there was one more.
Simply divide - no need to tell
Male or female cuz no need for.
So why and how sexes evolved?
Inquiring minds wanted to know.
Transgendered algae may have solved
This mystery from long ago.
It turns out there is just one gene
Making algae switch he or she.
So not a complicated scene
For evolving sexes to be.

'Twas algae, scientists believe
That were the first Adam and Eve.
