He Sleeps Poem by Mary Stanley

He Sleeps

Rating: 5.0

He sleeps, and my eyes are wide awake
memorizing every inch of his face
just seeing him drifting quietly in peace
makes my heartbeat flutter and race.
He sleeps, and my soul thrills with each sigh
each little breath and movement he makes
and with every time he whispers my name
my heart, piece by piece, he takes.
He sleeps, and my fingers moves over his eyes
enjoying the sensation of touch
I feel every scar, every stretch of his skin
never dreamed I could love someone this much.
He wakes, and sees me staring softly at him
he smiles and reaches out towards me
and gladly I go to be rocked gently down
and in my dreams still continue to see...
As he sleeps
