Heart Aches Poem by Kainaat Aslam

Heart Aches

Rating: 4.8

My heart aches,
as I lay awake
Throughout the night,
I see no light
as sadness envelops me in tight
squeezing me in with all its might

I am to blame
for I came,
But all you did was call me lame
You played me like a game,
without truly knowing my name
I will never be the same

My heart was shattered,
but to you it never really mattered
I used to be flattered,
with all your chatter
My hopes were tattered,
and my hurt became fatter

I tried to hate you,
But I knew,
my plan would never pull through
because whenever you came into view,
I would always have a nervous breakthrough
and stand as if I was a statue

You thought you were smart,
you broke my heart
I couldn’t put my heart back together since the pieces were too far apart
You did your part,
like a piece of art
and left me all the way at the start

Good depiction of distress and disappointment occasioned by exit of love, well articulated and nicely penned from inner recesses of the heart with conviction. Love, though spiritual in nature, is also whimsical and temperamental, appearing without notice and may leave without warning. Thanks for sharing Aslam. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

It is sad that love ends this way sometimes. Thanks, Kainaat
