Heart Of Sun Poem by Alex McCullough

Heart Of Sun

I lost all the baggage I brought with me,
To the breeze which came and swept me away,
Carrying me off into the uncertain distance.
Even I want to avoid what's before me,
Another voice inside sways me,
To stride from day to day,
Chasing it till I grasp ahold of what it holds.
The starlit night,
Reminds of wishes come and gone,
From my heart back into yours,
Only because I can't trust no one else with them.
If life could fulfill one wish I held,
It'd be to always be by your side.
Heart of my Sun,
I can't count how many times I've prayed,
For my heart to stop this marathon of a race,
And stop to enjoy what's already here.
My tears become the night,
As I gather up the bits of this flame inside,
So maybe one day it might,
Awaken the real me!
