Heartstring Poem by Patrick Utitufon

Heartstring

(for Pemi)

You are the woman
You are my other half
and I find it hard to forget
You are the thoughts in my head
You are the grip on my hand
that wills me to a fixation
and I find it hard resisting
You are the reason my heart beats
and the reason I feel this nameless pain wrap
around me
And still, you are the rare elixir- the balm to heal
my wounded soul
