Heat Poem by Bret Welch

Heat

Wandering along the lonely walls,
An Angel floats to me.
Shocked, I stumble,
She notices, giggles,
And her curious glance meets my ceaseless gaze.
Turning red, I look to my toes;
Glowing, she looks to hers.

Years pass before we do.
When her arm kisses mine,
The earthquake beneath me
Makes me weak.
I must turn around,
Only for a second,
Anxious to steal one more glimpse.

And our eyes meet once more,
But now they don't run away.
They confront each other,
Get acquainted:
"Hi, "
"Hel…"

She turns the corner,
The moment over,
Lost.
