Heat Has Arrived Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Heat Has Arrived

Rating: 4.3

Finally the heat has arrived
Making deep furrows across
The farmers forehead deeper
Even sweat drops can't escape
From their depth; the stray
Dogs have started to hang their
Tongues to get respite from the
Hot wind. They feel tired all the
Time and lay in a side under trees
And hedges. School returning kids
Sometimes throw stones at them.
But they won't get up; give a
Whimper and close their eyes.
Finally the heat has arrived.
It sucks up colors and nectar from
Flowers and let them droop before
Afternoon. The bees being hungry
Whine sitting in the shadow of
Leaves. There is a silence all
Around the land after the cracklings
Of firewood died inside the huts.
