Heaven And Hell Poem by Sherri Vogel

Heaven And Hell

Whatever the reason
You had in mind that night
I hope you understand
You chose wrong over right.
You were not thinking clearly
Your mind was in a mess
Life just got the best of you
That be my only guess.
The devil he took over
And you could not resist
Killing someone special
To many who will miss
A father, son, a brother,
A cousin, and a friend
Fiance, uncle, grandson
It all came to an end.
All those people left behind
Loved him more than words can say
And they'll go on remembering
About him every day.
Nobody knows for certain
What happened on that night
And it'll be a mystery
Until you shed some light.
Why you shot and killed a man
And robbed the liquor store
Doesn't make a lot of sense
But what does anymore.
Only you the robber
And the victim of the crime
And God who watched from up above
Know what happened at that time.
Maybe through court hearings
Trials on the stand
You can open up your heart
And make us understand.
All that you were feeling
Was it jealousy or hate
Maybe Robby's time to go
Just a twist of fate.
The answers out there somewhere
But it doesn't mean we'll know
Exactly why you shot him
What an awful way to go.
At least he's in a better place
Though it's sad he had to die
He's up in heaven close to God
Way up in the sky.
Unlike you who's left on earth
To live a life of guilt
With no foundation for a life
One just can't be built.
They'll take away your freedom
You'll be locked up in a cell
While he's enjoying heaven
You'll be living life in hell.
When many years have gone by
And old age has set in
Death shall come upon you
Can God forgive your sin.
Just like all those questions
About the crime there in your past
You'll stand up before God
And his will be the last.
Your final destination
Will it be heaven will it be hell
Well no one really knows
Except God and he will tell.
Will you be forgiven
Will your punishment on earth
Serving life in prison
Finally be worth
Freedom up in heaven
Will God forgive your sin
Will Saint Peter open up the gate
And say my son come in.
Or will the devil take your soul
All the way to hell
And life in the hereafter world
Be much worse than your cell.
