Heaviness Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua - Amopho

Heaviness

Rating: 5.0

When the weight of endeavor is heavy
When life’s daily struggles overwhelm me
When my efforts and strivings are fruitless
When common sense and reason disappoint
When intelligence is but useless pondering
When I reach my end and utterly confused
When nothing in me musters any strength
When I lay helpless and cry for assistance
When I need a friend’s hand to lift me up
The wending of another to bring meaning
When my prayers have mustered no change
Whose hands would reach out to uphold me?
Whose arms would extend to lend comfort?
Whose command can arrest these afflictions?

Must I not hide under the shadow of my Lord?
Must the Creator of the universe not avail me?
Is He silent who oversees the kingdoms of men?
Isn’t the bosom of the Most High a safe harbor?

I’ll seek refuge before Him amidst these storms
He will deliver me from my afflictions in time
