Hello Darling! Poem by Mark Sellen

Hello Darling!

Hello Darling,
Life’s long friend,
Am I sane,
Or round the bend?

I sit alone,
In a cardboard box,
Absorb life’s worries,
Take life’s knocks.

No great ambitions,
A dead end job,
Just one of the many,
Yea, one of the mob.

Life’s full of questions,
And so’s my head,
Am I alive,
Or am I dead?

What can I do,
Where can I go,
Is there an answer?
Well, I don’t really know?

I was forced to leave work,
And now you’ve gone,
The end to an era,
The end of our song.

My friends gather round me,
So I shouldn’t really moan,
Though the box seems bigger,
And I still feel alone.

I look around me,
My mouth agape,
Look to the future,
Await my fate.

Life’s still full of questions,
And so’s my head,
Why all the woe,
Why all the dread?

What shall I do,
And where shall I go?
Do I want to know the answer,
Well, I don’t really know?
