Henrik Larsson. Poem by THE HOLY POET

Henrik Larsson.

Henke was slim but strong as an ox
And his pace was so quick that once in the box,
You'd gamble your mortgage, you felt it a cert
That wee Henke Larsson'd hit the back of the net.

Songs have been sung of teams home and abroad
But Henke our King, was a wee Celtic Ghod
I've never heard passion or felt such emotion
And he always responded with his wee magic potion.

He'd bang, he’d lob maybe head or just slot
The goals just kept coming, some from the spot
Free kicks were awsome, solo runs great
And when he ran off the ball that sealed their fate.

Big John, his pal Chris and Lubo as well
Took up the running and gave those teams hell
A poetical grace mixed with magic, they starred
But of our four Parkhead poets, he was the Bard.

The one thing he had from each single fan
Was respect in abundance across every land
Watched by millions and loved by them all
He danced to our music when he had the ball.

A maestro, a genius, a real Celtic man
There's no doubt that wee Henke was our talisman
I had the pleasure of meeting him in his home town
Just laughing and joking and messing around.

I saw grown men tremble and freeze at the thought
Of standing beside him, their tongues tied in knots
But he calmed them down, that is his way
A gentleman, scholar, he made their day.

His love for the club will never decline
He sees green and white hoops run through his mind
And now he's confessed he'd love to be coached
He can pass on his skills, how to score and to poach.

He'd rise up and dreadlocks behind him would trail
They couldn't contain him though arms did flail
A bulleted header left them for dead
And the once flailing arms now rest on their head.

When he cut off his dreadlocks and lost all its length
We thought of Samson and how he lost his strength
But we should have had faith in our wee goal machine
There was no need to worry he was still just as mean.

And when he got injured, the same happened again
We were all doubting Thomases but the doubts were in vain
For he came back stronger, much more than before
And he made his point by doubling his score.

Celtic and Henke go hand in hand
He played Celtic's way with his own special brand
Our Glasgow club is revered worldwide
But it was so very special with Ghod in the side.

He must hold the record for nutmegging players
He left them bewildered, saying their prayers
Now we thank the Lord for the Magnificent Seven,
The man who brought Paradise closer to Heaven.
