Her Destruction Poem by Shayna Butcher

Her Destruction

Crying on the ground

She pulls herself together

Amazed that she can

Breathe with all the pain

But the hurt is so good,

That whole in her chest

gets bigger every day

The edges of her heart

Have now grown raw

She wraps her arms around herself

So she won't fall apart

But it's too much

To handle

She reaches to the razor

It's her best friend

The one that never lies

Pulling it to her wrist

She has to do it right

One deep line

Down the length of her arm

A sigh of relief the pain has come

The hurt feels nice.

She's been so numb

Since you've gone away

But now she'll just be gone

She won't wake from

The calamity of her dreams

And no more will she slip.

She won't be searching for the impossible

And you won't have to worry about her

Because it will all be over

And she'll be gone forever
