Here We Reach The Beginning Poem by Frank DeFulgentis

Here We Reach The Beginning

journeys of the spoken word
decorate our tainted world of hope
filling the corners of life
all around us
destiny is where
dreams and reality meet
and collide violently
when I was younger
the wind was not as strong
the trees were taller than the skies
and the waves of the beaches
were without riptides and tsunami’s
there was only the echo of an ideal
thankgod that ideal is dead

when the heart finally breaks
without a single trace
of pieces left
and the sky
completely falls
the soul can begin to grow
and so begins
the dark night of the soul
the letting go
of all that is known
surfaces of the water calm
blackness has sprung
and with it
comes the brilliant
elusive beauty of it all

here we reach the beginning
this is where all roads lead
every day the flow of life
gives us a mealtime of fate
from which we may eat
in each and every dimension
we race about searching
for the best of endings
but there is much more
left to be read
stop looking behind you
do not let hate cloud your vision
you are where
you have wanted to be
let experience take the wheel
before it’s too late
the answers are all before you

fate i hear you yes
you continue to call my name
you tell me the road is paved
the procession in motion
i refuse you
but then again
you knew i would
