Hey Miles Poem by Brandon Lucero

Hey Miles

Listening to all the jazz
in love with the past
notes dancing
on the edge of the future
like water drops

Breathe deeply and go forth
combining souls
white magic

They sang all night
played till dawn
nothing written
improvisation

On fire like magma
moving and shaking
the air around us
ever so smoothly

It's more than I can believe
notes like knives
sharpened and flying
piercing the veil
with confidence

Dancing on the edge of the present
like tear drops from angels
Instruments played with abandon
graceful and precise
reckless perfection
gifts from heaven
