Deep, dark red - almost burnt;
Maize, brown, and smoky gray.
Brilliant copper.
Like tears of a paper god,
Leaves fall,
Flip,
Flutter
to
earth.
Pile them high!
Like a mountain of color!
Finally,
I snuggle into my nest;
Down in the crinkly musty depths.
I will sleep warm and deep.
I will awaken,
Perhaps,
in the Spring.
