Higher Poem by Francis Duggan

Higher

If to your higher self you wish to live true
Give credit to everyone that credit to is due
And in your words never do drag others down
Even people that you do not like in the town
But to my advice on the higher self I cannot live by
I too have my human flaws though hard I do try
To live as a better person plenty of room for improvement in me
Of my human weaknessesI will never be free
Those true to their higher selves are of the few
And this is not saying anything that is new
The words of a wise person does come to mind
You cannot be true to your higher self if you are not compassionate and kind
I do not practice what I preach in truth I can say
And from my higher self I do seem far away.
