Hindsight 20/20 Poem by gary polonsky

Hindsight 20/20

Hindsight 20/20 - metaphored cliché,
Has long foretold the folly of reflection,
So it is with covid, canker of today,
I hope I'm not yet stale in this reflection.
'Twas the Season, just four months it's been,
Purchases a-rush with potpourri,
Oceans a-flush with propylene,
Humpbacks washed up from the sea.

Suddenly, the saints pontificate,
Proclaiming lessons learned, we'll all be well,
No returning to that sorry state,
Free at last, free at last from steamy hell.
Of course, I hope they sermonize the truth,
That said, the same was proffered in my youth.
