Hold My Hand Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Hold My Hand

You touched my skin
but I backed off;
I didn’t ask anything of you.

You played with my hair
but I backed off;
I didn’t want any games.

You moved over to embrace me,
but I backed off;
I didn’t need comfort.

You reached over to kiss me
but I backed off;
I didn’t need overvalue.

You stood up and left
but I wanted you to hold my hand;
I didn’t want special, I wanted sincere.
