Holiday Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Holiday

If we’re going to keep like this
every lamp post
will have to get a sweater.

If fire breathes upon your neck
we’ll take to the beach,
let’s come back for shoes the next year.

If you spill out of the door
the wind won’t cease you
but hold on to this leash.

If the bills will digest us
let’s be imperfect pictures
and puncture them with our edges.

If we’re going to live like this
leave it up to me
we’ll turn everyday into a holiday.
