Holocaust Poem by Bharati Nayak

Holocaust

Rating: 4.7

After some days- - -
The dust blown by
The tornado will settle
Flood water will go back to the stream
Black clouds will fly away

But- - - - -
The images of
Charred flowers
Half burnt stump of
A fruit -giving tree
Will take time to heal.

Because seeds of distrust
Spread so swift
They grow so rapidly
Like holocaust
Attacking the green fields
They take away greens
Leave us with no harvest
No flowers and no fruits.

The attack may soon pass but the effects can be long lasting. A very fine poem.

'But- - - - - The charred images of beautiful flowers Half brunt stump of A fruit giving tree Will take time to heal.' Bharati, I would write 'the images of charred flowers', 'burnt', not 'brunt', and 'fruit-giving'.

O.K, Bri Edwards, I am going to edit the poem as per your suggestion.

I believe some who 'followed' Hitler did it out of greed, antisemitism, and anti-other things, and fear for their own safety or the safety of their relatives etc. That's enough for now. ;)

Five years ago, YOU left this in a comment: 'I sometimes wonder how a single person'Hitler' could brainwash a whole race into committing such crime against humanity..' I say: 'it was NOT Hitler alone doing the 'dirty work', and a 'whole race' which was 'brainwashed'. (cont.)

(cont.) I also noticed that I referred to killings my Nazis as having been in 1941-1945 [the years the U.S. joined allies in the war]. But killing persecution (and I think killing) occured long before 1941. (cont.)

Bharati, I did not think your poem dealt well with the subject of mass-killing of humans. I read many oler comments including from me, including some suggestions I had and still have today. (cont.)

'Brunt' is another word, a noun, meaning something else. Using 'stump' often indicates the death of the rest of by trunk, by cutting or breaking. Some trees may sprout new trunks if enough tissue still lives. (cont.)
