I'm going home to the place where I was born, to the red dust and dry heat and the majestic dawn
But I'm tinged with sadness and a heavy heart, hope that I finish the task that I start
The memories of childhood, my Mom and Dad, they won't be waiting, this makes me so sad!
I'll visit them both where I laid them to rest, sit and chat awhile, try my best
To do the things I have promised to do, use the friends I have made to keep me true
But I am Rhodesian it goes without mention; that of course I'll succeed for that's my intention!
So I'll count my blessings that I have what I've got, and continue to help those who have been forgot
For our elders deserve dignity and hope, a friendly face the means to cope
So I thank all my countrymen for without all of you, I could never do this, start each day anew
And yes I will cry and feel of not much use, but I will continue to fix this awful abuse
So with you behind me this wrong doing will cease, for I know that with effort, we can bring them some peace
And when the sun sets on my final day, I know that I will have found a way
For I know that still I am only one, but with all of your support together we are strong
So thank you for helping do the things that I pursue; for my parents taught me, that if believe, you can do!
So God bless our old folk and give them respect, let's banish the pain and stop the neglect!
