Home Thrills

There is an excitement in trading off city lights
To the dim lamp lights of my living room.
In this subtle ambiance, the mood is set
For some reading, or film watching adventure,
As I navigate on this vessel, my cozy couch.

There are no fashionistas, looking like clones
Of each other, to bore me with monotony;
No need to be worn out by the nightclub's
Same smoke, usual music, typical scene;
Nor be stuck with eating pizza after two a.m.

This evening, a place I find familiar will be seen
In a different angle like an uncharted paradise
Where I am allowed to experiment recipes.
Why waste my energy taking part of social chaos
When there is a sense of order and safety in here?

Instead of numbing the ears, immunizing the heart
With the pounding music of an enraged rock band,
I can put on some calming classical or soothing jazz,
As I cruise on my tub of lavender foam, sailing me
To a dreamland beyond these incense and candles.

I will not worry about sweating or an oily face,
The tortures of parallel parking or paranoia of valet,
And not even bills, tips, miscellaneous expenses.
There is an adrenaline rush underneath this roof
That can not be found in some outdoor odyssey.
