Hope Poem by Jennifer Peckins

Hope

We have it in our power
To start the world again
And maybe not this hour
But soon we can begin
Because this 'forget the past'
Mindset doesn't last
Change is on the way
Once you overpay
So sit back and wait for tomorrow
Though it ain't promised today
Please free me from this pain and sorrow
Prove to me there's another way
Looking ahead and moving on
Only because everyone else is gone
Surviving in a world, not living
Always remember, never forgiving
Because this 'forget the past'
Mindset doesn't last
Change is on the way
Once you overpay
Looks like new hope has been born
As the nation waits in anticipation
And all the republicans warn
That we're headed for devastation
Why are we so quick to judge
Don't throw our victory away
He can help us rise above
Like I said, we already paid
Because this 'forget the past'
Mindset don't last
Change is on the way
Once you overpay
Nineteen years, feel like I overpayed
Nineteen years, feel like I overstayed
