Hope Poem by Tamara Sakr

Hope

The sun consuming the lake

As I lie in my silent wake

Like a flower striving for some light

Early morning and in the dead of night

Each day passes by as bittersweet

Hoping that two ends will finally meet

Before the bird in the nest falls down

Deep down into the inviting unknown town

Death has secretly befriended me

And sucked the life out of life

It has become too dangerously comfortable

To leave the shadows of my soul

It plays with my mood and has taken its toll

On the very essence of my ultimate being

An eager empty cup which people see

A yearning to fill it up and break free

Of the viscous cycle of despair

To be with and feel those that are fair

To take another cup and fill it all up

Thirsty and hungry as one can be

For the lessons to blossom the flower in me
