Hospital Visitors Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Hospital Visitors

I relax my Mind, I sit and stare,
I listen to sounds around,
The hubbub of chatter encompass me,
As visitors to the hospital abound.

Sitting in the Food Concourse,
Awaiting the return of my Wife,
Who’s gone to visit a sick friend,
~ The heat penetrates my body like a knife.

I’ve got to be careful of excessive heat,
Lest my skeletal muscles up do seize,
For Myasthenia Gravis I have got,
An incurable Muscle Disease.

I’ve managed to find a cooler place,
At least one that I can bear,
Hopefully I’ll not have to wait long,
As I sit uncomfortably on a wooden chair.

The minutes tick slowly by,
Each second seems like an age,
As verses of poetry I do write,
Each seeming like a long tirade.
