How? Poem by vickie fuhriman

How?

Who could ever think that
one person could ever go
throught quite so much and
still manage to be alive?

This is a question she
thinks about constantly.

She has a heart full of
sorrow and heartache,
along with a mind full
of sin.

her arms and legs are
covered in scars that
represent her pain.

Her soul, is singed black
from all her horrid sights.

With her father dead,
she feels as if no one
is there to guide her.
Which leaves her with
no hope.

Her depression and
suicidal thoughts always
hanging over her head,
and she can't stop
from wondering what people
would do if she died...

She tries to want to live
and love but just can't seem
to succeed.

People say that they hope
and pray for her, but after
she leaves they talk about
how happy they would be
if she were gone.

Those people that say they
care, are those who tell her
she's going to live a long
and successfull life, and
are also those who wonder
how long she will actually
last in her life.

Therefore she will live,
but there will always be
that overshadowing
depressionn that will
never go away.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
William Jackson 14 June 2008

The father who died- what would he want for his daughter? Wouldn't he say, 'Never give up. Never, never give up! ' And wouldn't he say, 'Child look to the mountains. Reach upward. Rise out of your situation, your sorrow and disappointments and live. Truth and beauty are all around you! God has already given you the strength to be something great! You must live and flourish in health and wholeness. Do not forget from where you came, which is not this self- made suffering or the suffering caused by the cruelty of lost souls; you come from perfection and are made in the image of God. Start living like it! In Him we live and breathe and have our being.'
