How after all these years
Have I come to this?
I wanted to give hope and faith
I wanted to make life better for others
I wanted to help the Jewish people
I wanted to diminish the suffering of humanity
And now all I write
Is small confessions of my own inanity
Like this one
A life has been lived
A work has been done
Stories have told
Books have been written
But I in my mind and heart
Am not what I hoped to be
And I do not have strength of faith
That I would give to others
Oh God where are You?
And will You ever forgive me
For having failed You?
