How I Wish Poem by Amiegbereta Edwin

How I Wish

How i wish i had known the day of my birth
I would want to be born in plenty
I would demand the celestial host to stand in awe
And a warm welcome with sound and wine

How i wish i had know the day of my deliverance
I would have no thought of vain escape
I would walk in feign obedience with the jailer
And a deep sigh of relief with the wind beating on my breast

How i wish i had known the day of my miracle
I would need no sackcloth and ash for humility
I would have prayed less and prayed all day
And a warm embrace with great joy and wine

How i wish i had known the day of my glory
I would, in streets, danced and cheered carelessly
I would ignore my guts and walked past my gain
And a careless cheer in light and beauty

How i wish i had know the day of my demise
I would have my head bowed in humility
I would love and love and give my love to all
And a perfect rest as i bid the world goodbye

How i wish i can tell the side of my eternal home
I would my name be written with light in the Book of Life
I would to walk in the heavenly aisle paved with gold
And the Angel on the piano while i sing Alleluia.
