Wiping out tears is a human gesture
Worthy of adulation and recommended as means sure,
Yes, as a rare ladder leading to heavens austere
And in broader terms a human act meriting Paradise
If tears blood-shot flood out profuse,
Wiping them out with readiness, though laudable
Still should disturb the really conscientious
As it betrays the essential human inadequacy
Weeping bursts out from the hearts melted in furnaces
