Humble Plea Poem by Paul Adolphus

Humble Plea

Look down upon this sinful man O'Lord
Turn not your face away from me
Cover not your ears when I humbly plea
Show me mercy and blot out my transgressions
For the fury of your wrath no man can withstand
I am overcome with sorrows and afflictions
Lift me up with your mighty hand
My journey through life has been unsteady
My feet have not been aable to stand firm
My desires have led me to the pit
Nothing of worth have I gained
My strength grows weary
My hope grows dim; worries consumes my day
You know my thoughts and ways O'Father
You know what my heart desires
Do you not look after the needs of your children?
Do you not grant their requests?
Surely, you will be my provider
