Hybrid Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Hybrid

Some may ask for reason
-why I care and love them.

Some may look and wonder
-why I am devoted.

Some…
Some…
Some…

Here is my answer:
- "I, too, am one of them."

I lived on fathers' land
-until the forces and…

First, nature and flood
-then arrived the mullahs.

These devils copied the
-old Arabs with Islam!

My father's ancestors
-had their faith and culture,
-their cities, behaviours…

Yes, of course, government
-and leaders of their faith
-were meek and corrupted;
- (Always were and remain
-since it is the trend of power,
-corrupts with corruption!)

In deserts and Wadis
-rose, rebel, prophet
- (known to be a merchant
-and honest in trade.)

Soon after his faith too
-became the meanest tool
-for killing, rape and loot.

They came to Daddy's land
-with sword, knife and khanjar
-killed, stole, destroyed
-what they saw and could find.

Rape has been, forever,
-the act of invaders…

Rape happened too often
-and still takes place;
- (can be talked of; later.)

The Arabs succeeded
-to break two balloons
-bursting two Empires
-of the Rome and Iran!

When fled their leaders
-the two turned to corpses
-as preys for hunting
-foxes and the vultures!

The barefooted nomads
-demanded, commanded:
- "Become us or be ours,
-or be killed, then vanish! "

My great ancestors
-chose to run to mountains
-they had to leave behind
-whatever they had earned;
- (From wealth to science!)

I hear: "Arabs burned all the books;
-destroyed and ruined and buried! "

Old owners were showered with insults:
- "You worthless savages and pagans, "
-so, they hid in mountains; lived in caves
-dug using basics tools, hands and nails!
-The need for survival costed their children
-who just learned to gather; and shepherd.

Wealth, greed for power
-divided invaders!

Right or wrong, were at war
-shed blood; of themselves
-ruthlessly and shameless.

The same was repeated in Peru
-with looting Spanish
- (Study Pizzaro!)

The Iran's invaders
- (those losers)
-chose the way to mountains.

Years had past
- (hundreds!)
-long were dead the elders
-different were new children.

Just few of customs had remained
-one of them:
- "Help the lost and accept any guest."

I can feel my father's ancestors
-who followed their culture;
-accepting the snakes, spiders
-as their guests (once again!)

New guests were little different
-than their own ancestors
- (the rapist invaders who looted,)
-they needed safety and shelter…

But greed…oh greed…selfishness!

New guests were fresh in knowledge
- (came from the cities, were aware,)
-unlike host that had long abandoned
-the thinking thanks to the climate
-and plains and mountains.
-Guest used it as cutter, for, against

Guests preached and prayed
- (opposing old, recent,)
- "Go to hell the pagans
-as well as the Caliph's followers! "

Populist they were and succeeded
-to speak in mixed-tongue
-of owner's ancestors with Arabs'
-totally diluted, with accent:
- "Prophet told Ummah
-to follow his cousin
- (named Ali…)
-as the heir and righteous."

Once again, dad's side lost
-villagers of mountains,
-listened well and obeyed!

The distanced from facts
-lacked knowledge, was simple
- (accepted Shiism.)

New guests arrived late,
-offered to be friends;
-spoke of the same pains
-that had hurt the village
- (both past and present)
-from first ancestors
-who crossed Hell-Bridge.

Venomous snakes and spiders
-who became the masters
-did same and destroyed
-the pure old culture!

Guests who had been sheltered
-now caused an illusion:
- "Hussein our third Imam;
-married a princess of Iran…"

The dagger goes deeper
-when hitter is near.

My father's side's parents
-had no books, no leader
-of the old religion
-so, listened, converted
-to the faith of friends!

Now, "Friends? " held the rein
-while at top, as leaders
-setting laws for the ways
-to force old residents:
- "This is how you handle
-your life and religion."

All Dad's past was killed, raped;
-thrown to wild vultures
-and remains to foxes!

My father's ancestors
-were deformed or reshaped
-to match the pen of the
-newest of friends
- (the kids of invaders!)

And they are the meanest
-to truths; divert them!

This is what we can see
-with most of invading
-that enter pleading
-as thirsty, hungry
-and the needs.

Hosts like us always save
-the snakes and serpents
-from cold of icebergs
-with a heart of kindness
-unaware that serpents
-will soon show their nature
- (egoist and selfish as tiger)
- (and foxy when cheaters ;)
-venomous and ruthless
-and highly poisonous!

Studied Hollanders,
-Swedish, British
-Portuguese, Spanish
-all the way to French
-as well as Ottomans,
-Japan, Russians, China.

I can go deeper to Atlantis
-and Normans and Vikings!

Time changes everything
-as healer, medicine,
-pain killer and maybe
-converter by hybrids…

Years passed and my dad's side
-recovered some old parts
-of the older ancestors.

My dad and his fathers
-till we can remember
-have been the children
-of Iran, and Shiites.

Mom's parents accepted
-the first and have lent the
-latter or what is faith…

They buried the old, past
- (of Iran and Shiites.)
-and became a couple
-to become our parents.

We love both our parents
-as one and equal
-but cannot and shall not
-wear blind or handcuff,
-to truth, barrier to knowledge...

I am a Mestizo, or Metis
-like many in Andes, prairies
-therefore, feel Inuit.
