Hymn Poem by W.I. Stoneberger

Hymn

Rating: 5.0

When my eyes keen
on certain things
it's easier to praise
more naturally

on the 9 story roof
a tiger swallowtail
sails
proof of his majesty

on a lakefront patio
bank swallows swoop
circle and loop
a flash of truth

a white egret
slow-steps the shore
how ask for more
than pure beauty

two tiny wrens sitting
on the deck railing
tails held high
song big as the sky
big as God's eye

like fairy folk or miniature angels
butterflies enchant the edge
of a wooded lot
dance then disappear
He is here

a flowerbed
between 2 pine trees
holds colors rarely seen
only a few weeks in Spring
flash splash then memory

when I see
the natural order of things
my heart can't help
but sing.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The tie up of Hymn and nature is soothing and enchanting. The birds, butterflies and flowers are there for your captive eye and I can see through your eye that a Hymn is just the best song to sing your praises. 10 Karin Anderson
