Hymn To The Seas Poem by Hassan Rizwan

Hymn To The Seas

Rating: 4.0

Thus endeth the life of a child, new born.
Slaying the thought of the voyage, unsound.
The Beast of the waves, as it once was thought.
Sunken forever and left there to rot.
Devoured, whole, by the quintessence of blue.
A fraud by nature, a merciless coup.
Crafted by Man, with the intention of bravado.
Karma came along, a deadly desperado.
Behold the power, the strength of that majestic creature.
Feel it. Hold it. Embody it, it is your teacher.
Zeus of the Land, governing the waters.
Bringing back home, not last of its daughters.
Praise the oceans, praise how they’ve grown.
A Royalty of Blue, fixed on Earth, rather sown.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It revolves around the power and somewhat royalty of the oceans and how they use that power to sink ships (most notably, the Titanic) . This poem is basically about the sinking of the Titanic and the way the oceans are just so majestic.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Mohammad Abdullah 26 March 2014

A lamentation to the sinking of The Titanic devoured by the might of the seas, it is a rather magnanimous use of words to describe power and karma. Amusing, trembling and fascinating. A great attempt.
