I Am Poem by Rachel Kovacs

I Am

Gold grill,
Skittles,
Obscene
Words exchanged.
Hooded
Stereotypes
Drinking
Iced tea.

Cell phones,
Girlfriends,
Tools of the
Trade
Dangling from
Backpacks.
Stereotypes threaten.
Stereotypes push back.

A pop.
Silence.
Blood runs
Hot
Then cold.

Prophet in death.
Loss in life.

I am
Injustice
And I
Am
To blame.
