I Am A Dreamer Poem by Judy Meibach

I am a dreamer -
but so was Joseph.
He dreamed of being
a star amongst stars,
a king amongst kings -
and he became...

I am not so contemptuous
I should only be so auspicious,

but still -
my imagination
runs wild,
taking me
to far-reaching destinations.

I want to be a poet...
travel the world as
Elizabeth Bishop did -
learn of the writings
of my contemporaries,
as Elizabeth did with
Robert Lowell and Marianne Moore.

I want to be
applauded, illustrious -
I want people
to recognize me.

I am a dreamer.
