I Am Black, So What?

Rating: 4.3

Today treat me like a criminal
sentence me to life
without parole,
If being black is a crime
then I was born guilty
If being black is a crime
then criminals were committing
crime way before I started

Today punish me like a sinner
cast me curses with your able tongue
insult me, bully me.
Do this forever
If being black is a sin
Then I was born a sinner,
If being black is a sin
then sinners were committing
sin way before I started

Treat me badly today
as if you are white by choice
torture me for being black
as if I'm black by choice,
What makes a man, a man?
Is it the color of his skin?
Why make me suffer for being me?
When you can just embrace me for being me
Why go against me?
When you can go with me,
Why be my enemy?
When I can offer friendship,
Why judge me based on my look?
When you can study my actions,

All mankind came from Africa, all men were originally black. You have written eloquently about the struggle to be accepted as A MAN, not as a black man. One day, I pray that common sense, Love and equality will rule. Peace, Cebolenkosi
