I Am Confused Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

I Am Confused

I am confused

There's a phenomenon
Affects all
And everything
Pervasive as it is
Is misunderstood
What is known
It causes involuntary attraction
Causing bodies to pull each other in
I am attracting you
You don't seem to feel it
I am confused

Scientists explain
As long as there is mass
No matter the size
There's attraction
The amount depending on the sizes of the masses
And the inverse of the distances between them both ways
A universal law
I obey
You seem not to
I am confused

The moon
Three hundred and eighty four thousand miles away
Attracted to the earth
The earth
One hundred and forty three million kilometres from the sun
Strongly bonded
Even the sun
Twenty six thousand light years from the black hole in the centre
Is locked in
And you are next to me
Without attraction
I am confused.

What can I say?
No matter how physically close
The phenomenon seems not to work.
For you and I
Even when our bodies touch
In an embrace
My extreme attraction
And you
Never committed
Like i am not there
Disobeying the laws of physics
I am confused.
