I Am In No Hurry Poem by Mekale Clifton

I Am In No Hurry

Grandma loves to talk.
I go over to give her a paper and she pulls me inside.
First it's just casual chit chat.
Then I sit down and that gives her the cue to give me her life story.
I don't mind though, I am in no hurry.
She describes childhood memories bringing me back into her time.
She describes high school and what she was like as a teenager.
Then she talks about the touchy subject.
She describes memories of her deceased husband.
The grandpa I never got to meet.
I sit and take in every description.
Every word brings me closer to who she is and he was.
Every response I give her leads to a new story.
I don't mind though, I am in no hurry.
