I Am Rip Van Vinkle Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

I Am Rip Van Vinkle

I slept a little
On the soft grass
In the magic mountain
Can you remember my name?
I am Rip Van Winkle,

My heart is full of love
May I touch your soft fingers
And express my heart's agony?
Will you look at my eyes
With your trembling lips?
Will you murmur the same
Half spoken words?

Hey!

What are you looking at?
I am here
Just sitting opposite
Pleading for your hand
As I did then,
Can't you remember?

I have been dreaming
In my deep sleep,
I was bound by a magic spell
My body may have decayed
But,
My heart is the same.

Oh!

Can't you remember me?

I am Rip Van Winkle
Am I such to be ignored?
