I Am Staying Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

I Am Staying

I'm staying
I'm no longer straying

Wanted to escape
To the southern most cape
Woke up in the dead of the night
To cross the border before light.

The car i wanted to use
To start it refused
Two tyres flat
Not only that

Tried to fly away
On the fateful day
Passport was expired
Felt really tired

Tried going on foot.
Suitcase full of suits
Weighed me down
I could only frown

What was i thinking?
Forgetting marriage vows without blinking?
'In sickness and in health'
Not to depart in stealth.
