I Can Hear You Smile

I can hear you smile
Through the phone
As you sound out your words

It’s like a picture nobody painted
It’s an enchanted
Image of what I want you

To always do-
You in your
Night - gown

I can’t help
But feel an
Ache in my heart

When you
Feel pain
& I want to

Pierce the corners
of your lips
& Run strings

Through the holes
So your mouth can be
My puppet-

Your white teeth
Always shining in
The midnight light-

The endless jokes
Running through
Your veins

Like blood
That doesn’t
Hurt when it leaves

Like morphine
To make you
Feel fine

So you’ll know
I’m the hero in
Your dreams

So you’ll know
You’re the supernova
Speaking

To me
In
Silence

infatuation to lust to aching so much you want the object of your affections to become your marionette so you can make her say exactly what you want to hear. i like the progression of this poem, it takes a bit of a surprising turn but in the best way, because it takes a poem about butterflies to the next level and resonates very honest. really enjoyed it. had to copy paste my favorite part below because i couldn't help myself

poet Percy Bysshe Shelley

O World! O Life! O Time!
On whose last steps I climb,
Trembling at that where I had stood before;
When will return the glory of your prime?
No more -Oh, never more!
