I Can See You (12th June 2006) Poem by Sarah Capella Smith

I Can See You (12th June 2006)

A butterfly’s shadow, a delicate darkness -
No relationship can compare such dearness.
The sun rolls on my chest and my heart catches fire.

I cannot give you questions -
Although I have enough! But answers I have aplenty;
Just the amount to make us both happy.

Can we close the curtains to this performance? -
It’s so embarrassing; and I cannot handle
My own truth - so brutal am I!

Your hands bang above your head
Echoing out love of forgotten years -
With such force, my dear, such force!

You never understand when I say I fear
It will be too late - an optimistic turn?
Or will I regret everything? We will see.
