I Can't Be, Except With You Poem by Salihu Mahe

I Can't Be, Except With You

If I were; a star, you would be my night
A day, you would be my sun
A heart, you would be my beat
A skin, you would be my feel
'Cos my feelings for you, they can't be true!

If I were; honey, you would be my bee
A brain, you would be my mind
A being, you would be my soul
A thing, you would be my every
'Cos you're my love, my everything!

If I were; to sing, you would be my theme
To write, you would be my ink
To think, you would be my thoughts
To see, you would be my sight
'Cos you're the light, that shine my sky!

If I were; to die, you would be my kin
To live, you would be my breath
To love, you would be my love
To be, it would be with you
'Cos to be, is to be with you!
