I Can'T Unlove You Poem by Nick Downer

I Can'T Unlove You

I can't unlove you
even though your heart
has left me
to wander to another.
While your lying with another,
I lie alone crying,
missing your arms, face, words,
because they were life.
I can't unlove you
even though you say
you are no longer
in love with me.
While your love has left,
mine remains still and lasting
because you were my world.
I can't unlove you
even though your eyes
no longer look into mine
and whisper a future.
While you've moved on
I wait for your return
because you were mine
and I can't unlove you

This poem truly expresses the sadness your break up has brought. In the line 'because they were life', if you made it 'my life' it would make your poem stronger. I felt it when I read 'because you were my world'
