I Do Not Admire Him Poem by Francis Duggan

I Do Not Admire Him

I do not admire him but I pity his wife
She has such a lot to put up with in her life
Each evening he sits in the pub and he guzzles his beer
And talk to him is cheap but the liquor is dear.

With a beautiful wife and a four year old boy
One would think that more time at home with them he'd enjoy
But every evening in the pub for three hours or four
With his mates he has ten or twelve beers sometimes more.

Some sort of an impression on you he is bound for to make
His loud voice once heard you never will mistake
For to make up humanity it takes every kind
But then to our own failings the most of us seem blind.

With a beautiful looking wife and a four years old son
One might think that he would feel a privileged one
But from his faithful Mrs the truth he does hide
That he is enjoying his 'bit on the side'.

I do not admire him though some others do
He does like his beer and has more than one or two
And he is enjoying his extra marital affair
An unfaithful sort though his type are not rare.
