I Do What I Can/To Be What I Am Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Do What I Can/To Be What I Am

I do what I can
To be what I am
But what I am
Is not good enough
So I must try to be
More than I am
And I can't
So trying to be what I am
However happy it may make me for a moment
Brings me only sadness in the end
I try to be what I am
But what I am is not what I wanted to be.
